Seville’s popular maestro leads movers in classes of bulerías festeras, with participants smiling and cheering “Olé!” as they build dance from a fun rhythmic base. Now retired from his career as an acclaimed lead dancer for some of Spain’s top Flamenco performing companies, such as those of Cristina Hoyos and Mariemma, this world-class dancer tours internationally sharing his contagious enthusiasm in classes that are packed in Israel, France, The Netherlands, Russia, Italy, Brazil, Mexico, United States, and his home of Spain. Growing up in Valencia, Spain, the multitalented and versatile Flamenco dancer, Choreographer, Singer, Percussionist and Guitarist Oscar Valero currently divides his time and artistry equally between the United States and his native Spain. Oscar began studying flamenco and classical Spanish dance as a child. By the age of seventeen, he was performing professionally with various companies in Spain. In 1998-2000, Oscar became a soloist with the Antonio Canales Flamenco Company and was featured in the company's productions of Gitano, Torero, Bengues, Raíz a Cuerda yTacón. Oscar also performed with the María Pagés Dance Company productions of La Tirana, Flamenco Republic, and El Perro Andaluz. Oscar has appeared in so many festivals In Spain including among others the venerated Festival de Jerez, Festival de Cantes de las Minas (La Union), and La Bienal de Sevilla. With Antonio Canales he performed in the international festivals of Lyon (France), Bogotá (Colombia), Tel Aviv (Israel), Spoleto (Italia), and Tokyo (Japan). He accompanied María Pagés in the festivals of Boston and New York City, which featured such artists as Farruquito, Carmen Linares, and Manolo Sanlúcar. In 2006 Oscar inaugurated the Flamenco Festival in Valencia with stellar performers such as Tomatito and Eva La Yerba Buena. In October 2009, The Joyce SoHo presented a brand new production of Valero’s Fuerza, El Swing del Flamenco, which received great reviews not only for his dancing and choreography but also for his ability to compose music for dance. He had a great success his New York City-based Oscar Valero Dance Company presented Valero’s original creation Fuerza to sold-out audiences at the renowned Baryshnikov Arts Center, the JCC Arts Center as well as The Connelly Theater in NYC. He performs on the film Pink Panther II with Steve Martin. He also performs with the New York's Metropolitan Opera in the productions of Carmen and La Traviatta. Since Oscar moved to San Diego he has been performing at different venues locally on a regular basis as well as holding a workshop for professionals and semi-professional flamenco dancers. Oscar is also a part-time Professor in the Dance department of UCSD University in San Diego. He continues to travel through the United States as an invited artist and choreographer. To mention a few Oscar was invited in Irvine, California in the” New World Flamenco Festival” in Barclay Theatre in the production of “Flamenco Abierto” and also with the production "Zorro" with Zorongo Gitano in Minneapolis. On the East Coast, Oscar has been working as a Flamenco Choreographer with the well-known choreographer Christopher Gattelli in the Broadway production “In Your Arms”, in which He was also performing as a soloist in the world premier at The Old Globe in San Diego. He also performed at the “Summer Concert on the Hudson music festival” in New York. He was recently invited as a featured artist with Omayra Amaya Dance Company to perform at the celebrated Dauville Stage hotel in Miami, and was honored to be invited with the same production to perform in Shanghai, China.

Oscar Valero (Dancer / Singer)

José Tanaka (Guitarist)

Born in Kyoto Japan, and raised by family steeped in the Flamenco arts.
 Tanaka ventured away from Flamenco and began playing the electric guitar at age 13 came to the United States to study Jazz, Blues, Latin and Rock styles and theory at the Musician's Institute in Hollywood, California and continued to perform with various bands throughout greater Los Angeles. After being a guitar instructor for few years, at the age of 24 Tanaka rediscovered his passion for Flamenco and pursued further study in Seville and Madrid, Spain. He has performed with Antonio Rey, Joaquin Grilo, Belen Maya, Maria Juncal, Cocha Jareño, Carmen Ledesma, Manuela Rios, Ivan Vargas, Domingo Ortega, Juan Antonio Suarez “Canito”, Juan Triviño, Pedro Estache, Ramon Stagnaro, Efrain Toro, Luis Peña, Antonio Cortez "Chiquitete, Julia Migenes, David Williams, Jonathan Moffett, Eddie Miller. José Tanaka has toured throughout United States, Europe, Israel and Japan performed in many well-known places (Hollywood Bowl in LA, Olympia in Paris, Acropolis in Athens, Tarantos in Barcelona, El Flamenco in Tokyo etc.). José Tanaka has released his debut album/CD “Gypsy’s Dream” in 1999. Featuring top session musicians percussionist Alex Acuña, wind player Pedro Estache. In 2004, he has released his 2nd Flamenco album/CD “Lluvia” with Domingo Ortega and Manuel De La Malena.

Jesse Torre (Guitar, Music Theory)

Jesse Torre began studying guitar at the age of ten, and in his studies has developed an unwitting passion for playing and teaching. Bay Area native Jesse has studied with classical guitarist Angel Miguel Lejarza Leo, flamenco guitar virtuoso Jason Mcguire, and has worked under the mindful instruction of classical guitarist Nicholas Goluses at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, New York. There Jesse completed his Bachelors in Music (Classical Performance) with distinction, and was honored with a Performer’s Certificate, demonstrating excellence in guitar performance. During his undergraduate studies, Jesse performed in masterclasses led by the prestigious GFA winner, Tengyue Zhang, and Bach expert, Paul Galbraith. His time at Eastman has given him a strong background in music theory; he is an advocate for the written and aural analysis of music, and stresses the importance of composition and instrumental exploration. As a performer and teacher, Jesse specializes in flamenco and classical guitar, though he offers instruction in a variety of genres including: folk, blues, fingerstyle, pop, rock and rumba, to name a few. As a theory educator, Jesse covers theoretical concepts dating as far back as the Baroque, and addresses concepts of harmony and improvisation that overlap with aspects of jazz and contemporary music. Lessons are tailored to meet each individual student’s needs, interests, and various learning styles in order to ensure enthusiasm and musical growth. His patience and humor make learning fun.

Gerardo Morales (Percussion)

Gerardo Morales (GMorales) is a percussionist,uitarist, composer and recording artist from Los Angeles who began playing music at the age of twelve years old. He began studying cajón with Peruvian cajónero Zarandonga and Latin percussion with Ricardo Tikki Pasillas. He has traveled the world as a professional musician, performing alongside such artists as Black Eyed Peas, Cristina Aguilera, Kanye West,, with Grammy Winner Flamenco dancer Nino de los Reyes and Latin Grammy winner Flamenco guitarist Virtuoso Antonio Rey. He was privileged to teach several master workshops for percussion at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA. His early music studies began at Pasadena City College, The Pasadena Conservatory and later Conservatorio Profesional de Música Cristóbal de Morales in Sevilla, Spain. He studied privately with Kenton Youngstrom of the (Colburn School of Music) and Adam Delmonte of (USC) Ron Berman (Occidental college). He continued his studies with highly regarded Flamenco guitarists of Madrid (Spain) El Entri, Kilino Jimenez, Jesus de Rosario, and Antonio Sanchez, nephew of the great Paco de Lucia. He has released three contemporary collaborative albums - Dreaming Awake (G Morales), and Burning Star (Burning Star, artist collective) G Morales Ep. Gerardo has performed with many popular artists including members of the Carlos Santana Band, Linkin Park, Los Rakas, Anderson. Paak, Marcus Miller, Talib Kwali, Jurassic 5, Rakim, Raekwon, Cypress Hill, System of a Down, Saul Williams, , Ozomatli, Mos Def, KRS One, Kamasi Washington and numerous other worthy acts. He is an essential member of LA’s Subsuelo, and under his direction produces Classical, Flamenco, Latin, Hip Hop, R&B, and Pop shows throughout the country. Gerardo Morales has worked on films including Toy Story 3, Little Fockers, and Think Like a Man.

Briseyda Zarate (Dancer)

Briseyda Zárate Fernández is a Flamenco Dancer, Choreographer & Teacher based in Los Angeles, CA. She’s a Mexicana/Chicana raised by a farm worker family from Michoacán Mexico in Delano, CA. She began studying dance and performing at the age of 5 and has dedicated the last 30 years of her life to Flamenco. Her career highlights include performing nightly in the Spanish Madrileño tablao “El Cafe de Chinitas” while studying daily at the legendary studios of Amor De Dios with teacher Manuel Reyes. She’s performed in tablaos, peñas and festivals with well known artists. Most recently with Carmen Ledesma at her own Tablao in LA, Amparo Heredia “La Repompilla” and Miguel Rosendo for Rhythm of the Arts, and La Farruca, Remedios Amaya and Esperanza Fernandez for “La Fiesta de La Buleria” in Jerez de La Frontera under the direction of Maria Bermudez. Briseyda is a long standing member of the LA/Southern California Flamenco community and has produced and performed in all of it’s flamenco clubs/tablaos and top venues including the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion where she choreographed “Carmen” for LA Opera. Most recently she presented her show, “Mestizaje Puro” at the prestigious Festival Flamenco in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Felix de Lola (Singer)

Flamenco Singer Felix de Lola begun his singing carerr with the Campallo family and studied with the renowned flamenco singers Jesús Heredia and Naranjito de Triana. He has performed on stages throughout Western and eastern Europe, Latin America, Africa, Asia and the United States, singing for a list of illustrious artists: Juan Porvillo, Belén Maya, domingo ortega, Juan Ogalla, Andres Peña, Carmela Greco, Pastora Galvan. ​ Felix composes music and verses for flaenco song, theatrical works and musical adaptations for flamenco theater. Recently he composed musical adaptations of Costa Rican writer Cristy Van de Laat's The Red Book of Black Haiku and the play Moureliaa, based on the poetic works of writer José Néstor Mourelo Aguilar, Nominated in 2011 to receive an award in Costa Rica, by the foundation José Néstor Mourelo Aguilar. ​ He also sang in the most prestigious Tablaos ( Flamenco Club) in Spain like Los Gallos (Seville), El Arenal (Seville), Las Carboneras (Madrid), Casa Patas (Madrid),Villa Rosa (Madrid), Las tablas (Madrid), El Corralde la Moreria (Madrid). ​ Felix is a business man, he worked with Jose Luis Postigo to open the first Guitar Museum in Spain, also he opened his own tablao i downtown Madrid called "La Cueva de Lola". ​ At the present time he moved back to San Francisco and opened a Spanish food company with flamenco performances. ​

Marlon Aldana (Percussion)

Drummer and Percussionist born in Guadalajara, Mexico. Aldana is a multi-genre accompanist and educator based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Active member of the Recording Academy/GRAMMY Awards. Throughout his career Aldana has been part of many projects exploring and executing different music styles such as Jazz, Flamenco, Salsa, Timba, Funk, Rock, Brazilian music, Cumbia, Reggae etc. Aldana has shared stage with renowned artists such as Flamenco guitarist and Grammy Award Winner Antonio Rey, as well as Spanish guitarists Geronimo Maya, Juani de la Isla & Jose Luis de La Paz, Legendary Bay Area Rumbero John Santos, former Pedrito Martinez pianist Edgar Pantoja, Bay Area Bassist Jeff Chambers, Flamenco Pianist Alex Conde, Flamenco singers such as Mara Rey, Jose Mendez, Jesus Montoya, Manuel Moreno Carrasco, Flamenco Dancers Alfonso Losa, Andres Peña, Ivan Vargas, Juan Ogalla and many others. Thanks to his career trajectory Aldana was granted a scholarship at the California Jazz Conservatory where he currently studies. Aldana is now working on building an independent recording studio and writing some material of his own.
